Is it time for PQO? The Personal Quarterly Offsite.

View from Mt. Yonah in north Georgia. A great spot for PQO!

The last day of each quarter (or as close as I can get), I routinely make an investment in myself.  There are no funds involved, this is an investment of time called the Personal Quarterly Offsite, or PQO.  It is a workday spent away from the office to work on me.

Without fail, I feel guilty just about every time I do it.

Guilty that I’m not going into the office.  Guilty I’m not staying home.  Guilty I’m going to sit in a hammock next to a lake or atop a mountain when someone else is stuck in traffic or working on an important project.

Fortunately, I always leave the day inspired.  Inspired by the beauty and sounds of nature.  Inspired that I work for a company and with a team that wants me to truly become my best.  Inspired to reflect on progress our team has made at work and in life.  Inspired by the goals I’m setting for the quarter ahead.  Inspired by the books I take with me to read.  Inspired because I am better off today than I was in the earlier pages in my journal.  Inspired because I know that someone on my team is going to make a life-changing decision on their PQO this week.

If you’ve never tried PQO, face the guild and give it a shot.  If you’d like a copy of my PQO workbook, just shoot me an email to travis.dommert(at)gmail.com.
